• The Graduate Route is shrinking from 2 years to 18 months. This applies to bachelor's and master's graduates who apply for the Graduate visa on or after 1 January 2027. What matters is your application date, not your graduation date or course start date. PhD graduates keep their 3-year allowance regardless. • The UK has moved to a fully digital eVisa system. Physical vignette stickers and Biometric Residence Permit cards are being phased out in favor of an online UKVI account that proves your immigration status digitally.

Even where the per-year tuition looks similar to other countries, your total program cost is often significantly lower simply because you're paying for one year of tuition and living costs rather than two.

The Financial Requirement and the 28-Day Rule

Beyond tuition and visa fees, you must prove you can financially support yourself. The Home Office sets this as a fixed monthly figure, held in a bank account for a continuous 28 days:

• The 28 days must be continuous, and your balance cannot drop below the required threshold at any point during that window. A single large deposit made just before applying, if it hasn't sat there for 28 full days, doesn't satisfy the requirement.

• UKVI uses the OANDA exchange rate on your exact application date to convert BDT to GBP. Since exchange rates fluctuate, keep a 10 to 20 percent buffer above the minimum to avoid a shortfall caused purely by currency movement between when you check your balance and when you actually submit.

• A Chevening or Commonwealth Scholarship award letter replaces this entire financial evidence requirement. If you've secured one of these scholarships, you don't need to separately demonstrate maintenance funds.
